Women’s Empowerment in the Middle East

In the Middle East and south Asia, women are coming together. Recently, more and more groups have been created to empower them.

Some of these groups are in countries with bad reputations for how they treat women. For example, The U.A.E. has created a “Gender Balance Council” to make the country more equal. The recent United Nations ‘Gender Inequality Index” had them ranked 42nd, highest in the region. (UNDP)

This council is a government task force assigned to ensure that the U.A.E. government brings woman into the fold. This means changes to hiring, firing, and accommodation, especially mothers….
